AC/DC’s anthem Thunderstruck topped the list, featuring in over two fifths of playlists researched. AD/DC were also the most popular artist with four more of their songs making the playlist.
When it comes to the Super Bowl, a mix of genres seems to be the best way to keep all the family happy from classic rock bands like AC/DC and Guns N Roses, to rap artists like Drake and Kayne West, and even country crooners like Kenny Chesney.
The Super Bowl wouldn’t be anything without a little competition so we also analyzed the data to reveal which fans have the best playlists, using energy and danceability ratings. Taking the No.1 spot is Miami Dolphin fans, who have an average energy and danceability rating of 73.5. At the opposite end of the spectrum, it’s the Tennessee Titans fans who come in last with a rating of 66.9.
300 Spotify playlists with 46,869 songs were compiled using the keywords "NFL", "Tailgate party", "NFL Team + Tailgate". Then the number of times a song and an artist appeared were counted. In this way the rankings were made. A total of approximately 18,000 songs and 5,298 artists were counted. To determine which team has the best playlist, an average was made between the variables energy, danceability and popularity of the songs.
