Cincinnati Bengals will lock horns with the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday, for Superbowl LVI. The Bengals will be travelling to the Rams’ home for this one, as it’s the second time in almost 50 years, and the second year in a row where one of the Superbowl participants is playing in their home stadium (the Buccaneers played last year in Tampa). The Rams are the current favorites with sportsbooks, and a high scoring game is expected with the total for this one almost hitting 50 points (48.5).
The Cincinnati Bengals come into the game following three historical postseason wins over the Las Vegas Raiders, Tennessee Titans and the Kansas City Chiefs. All their offensive weapons have been stellar during this run, as Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Joe Mixon combined to put up incredible numbers on the board. Despite this, like I’ve mentioned every week now: their defense has been the ‘silent hero’ of their playoff run. They managed to hold the Titans under 20 points, and almost shutout the Chiefs in the second half in the AFC conference championship game. I think they will be the key in this clash against the Rams as Burrow and Stafford can go pound for pound on the offensive side of the ball – the game’s outcome will rely more on who can step up on defense. One player prop that stood out to me for this one is Ja’Marr Chase to go over his receiving yards total. The Rams have an average defense for deep throws and big plays, so I think Burrow can find Chase with 1-2 big targets for this over to hit. Deebo Samuel had 72 receiving yards last week, Mike Evans 119 yards, Mark Andrews had 89 yards total… In the last nine matches: the leading receiver of the opposing team went over his receiving yards total in seven of them. I like Chase to have a big match on Sunday, considering he is Burrow’s “go-to” guy.
Odell the star man?
When it comes to the Los Angeles Rams, I expect Odell Beckham Jr. to put on a show in this matchup. However, I’m not looking towards his receiving yards prop for this one, as that one can be hit and miss. Even though he has been consistently good since joining the Rams, Cooper Kupp still gets the majority of targets and receptions for the Rams, so the total might not hit. OBJ has proven to be an asset in the red zone however, where Kupp usually commands most of the attention. Beckham has scored a TD in almost 50% of the matches he played for the Rams so far, and his usage usually increases once the Rams enter the opposing team’s territory. It’s clear that Stafford is looking for OBJ when Kupp isn’t open, so I expect their Odell Beckham Jr to score a touchdown in the Superbowl.
Another game prop I love is Matthew Stafford to take home the MVP trophy. If you think the Rams will win the game, this is the right bet to place. Considering his story in the NFL, and the high level of play he has demonstrated in the playoffs, it’s hard to see anyone else receiving the award if the Rams get the win.
